Innsbruck to Venice - best way to travel
Hi,
I am checking oebb and eurolines websites but not getting direct connection between Innsbruck and Venice. The least confusing seems to be a train from Innsbruck to Villach hbf and then immediately a connecting bus from Villach to Venice tronchetto. Is this the best option or am I missing something? Secondly, if I do end up taking this train+bus combo, is 'tronchetto' accessible & easy to get in the main Venice? |
Take the train from Innsbruck to Verona (PN); change there for a fast train to Venice
|
1. A direct EuroCity (EC) train leaves Innsbruck every day at 13:27 arriving 18:10 on the banks of the Grand Canal.
Fares from just 39 euros, book at www.oebb.at and print your own ticket. Booking usually opens 92 days ahead. It's a spacious and comfortable Austrian train with an elegant waiter-service restaurant car (treat yourself to lunch). It travels via the scenic Brenner Pass. Wonderful! 2. Other two-hourly departures are possible with a change in Verona, then you need to split the booking: Book Innsbruck-Verona at www.oebb.at from 39 euros, allow 30 minutes or so between trains, book Verona to Venice from 9 euros on the hourly Frecciabianca Italian train at www.trenitalia.com |
No you you don;t want to be playing around with buses when you can get a train straight to the Venice main train station.

Forget the bus, the train ride through the Brenner Pass is super-scenic. Changing at Verona is no big deal, and if you miss one train there will be another along soon, but if there is a direct train definitely take that.
