Innsbruck day trip to Bavarian castles

I have 1 1/2 days in Innsbruck. I'm thinking of doing a half day tour around the old town of Innsbruck and then a full day bus tour to see Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles. Has anyone done this tour? Would you recommend it? Or should we spend all our time in the city of Innsbruck?

Hi,

That would depend on how high a priority Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau are to you. If you have a clear day, the Nordkettenbahn funicular/cable car trip is a "must do" in my opinion. This alone could be nearly half a day.

Then just on the southern end of Innsbruck is Schloss Ambras.

The Wilton Basilika may also be of interest to you.

My only suggestion would be to have a look at this link and then decide if you want to spend the day in Innsbruck or on a tour to neuschwanstein. Really depends on your interests.
