Hi Pat

We love Frieburg and hope to do a house exchange there in the spring of 2002. Do a search and you'll find information on this board. We stayed at the Allee Haus (allee means tree-lined street in German), which is within walking distance of the center. Be sure to have a wurst at the market which is held around the cathedral every day. Freiburg is a small, sophisticated university city at the base of the Black Forest.

Enjoy!

Pat

Here's info on the Hotel Allehaus. The address is Marienstrasse 7. It has a great buffet breakfast in a pleasant dining room, and you can park in their garage behind the hotel. The rate for two was about $80.Their fax is 0761/387 6099.

Freiburg is not that small... but I wished I had spend more then just 1 day in this beautiful city. It's one of those places with a character. Old Square is do not miss. Parking was a little problem - although it seems to be all over the place. Old part of the city is great for walking. Enjoy.

Betsy:
Thank you for the information on Freiburg. My niece is studying at the Arthur Ludwig University this year from the University of Michigan. I will be traveling with my niece's parents. Do you remember a hotel near the university that we might look into? You mentioned the Allee Haus is that located near the university?
Thanks again.
Pat

Pat

We were only in Freiburg for three nights, so I didn't get to know the city outside the center. I just dragged out my huge Freiburg map but couldn't find Arthur Ludwig University. I think there may be more than one university in Freiburg.

You might go to www.google.com and do a search for Freiburg, Germany. There may even be a link there to the university. If you need more help with this, just let me know.

How long will you get to stay there?

There are several decent websites on Freiburg. The only one I can remember off the top of my head is www.freiburg.de There is an English version.
