Information about RAF Lakenheath

Hi,

We are curently stationed at Aviano AB, Italy and just received orders to RAF Lakenheath. I just had a few questions for anyone who has experience with Lakenheath or that part of England in general.
First, I have a 5 year old, 3 yo, and a 2 yo. I would like to put the older two in the British schools. Is this a fairly easy task, and is it as easy to communicate with the teachers and school? (Do they have teacher conferences etc.).
What are some family activities that are available, if any? Children's museums, parks, zoo, etc. Are there any local playgroups like Mommy and Me or MOPS?
Is the area pet friendly; here most people have a dog. A lot of shopping areas even allow dogs in them.
I'm sure more questions will come to me later on. Anything you can think of to give me a heads up on will be great. Thanks.

With the children - the 5 year old will be in full-time school but the 3 year old can attend nursery or playgroup(some schools have an attached nursery). The 3 year old is entitled to a certain amount of free nursery - five sessions of two and a half hours per week for 33 weeks per year.
