Help - Help
Can someone fill me in on travel to either Dub. or Mont. Web sites dont mention rail....evidently there is none. Airports are listed, but I cant seem to find out anyting without "calling the nearest office". Anyone been there lately and is it worth a few days in each place? Pics seem quite beautiful. I like scenery, coastal stuff (not laying on beach tho), & mountains. Food wine and castles also a plus.
How does one get around in that part of the world. Car rental or is air the preferred method. Also if you can say something about accommodations, I would appreciate it. We're in basic planning stages only. Trip will be late August (how bout crowds??) Thanx for your time. I really appreciate your help.

Shrink - There have been numerous trip reports about both destinations - perhaps you haven't had a chance to search for them to help answer your questions. You are correct in that there isn't rail service to Dubrovnik-destroyed in the 90's war, however all other forms of transportation available, including ferry service. How much time do you have for this trip? What part of Croatia do you want to visit? Do you want to stay in hotels or prefer a sobe? July and August will be peak tourist season so expect crowds.
Not sure what you mean by 'airports are listed, but I can't seem to find out anything, etc.' - are you looking for flight information on how to get to Croatia? Again, I would suggest doing a search (keywords being Croatia, Dubrovnik, Montenegro, Kutor, Budva) and you'll be rewarded with wonderful trip reports. Have fun reading them!

I might also suggest a guidebook or even a magazine article. Search on Google. The Times of London has done literally dozens of articles on Dubrovnik over the past couple of years. Fodor's publishes a full guidebook to Croatia. Montenegro is a little more difficult to track down information for, but certainly not impossible if you have Google.

I would do some searches on this board. I, and many others, have been to both and have posted quite a bit. If you click on my name you should be able to find quite a bit of information. If you are interested in reading my trip report it can be found at http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessa...creath+croatia. Hopefully this will give you some help.

Do you have any specific questions?

Good luck!
Tracy
