Info on David's cleaning?
 

Does anyone know when David (in Florence)is scheduled to be done with his cleaning? I am heading there in May and was wondering if he will be done by then. I know he is still visible during the cleaning but I was wondering if I would be able to see the freshly scrubbed David. Thanks!!

Ivy, the original plan was to complete the cleaning by March 31. Have you tried contacting the Accademia?

I'll be there next week, I can report back if we don't have an answer by then.

They've just reported that he has weak ankles :D:D:D:D:D They're scanning and will take it from there.

The website for the Accademia has a March 8 press release that says the cleaning is currently scheduled to be completed at the end of May, and they believe they will meet that date. I will try to find and post the link, my PC crashed when I was in the middle of reading the museum's web page. . .

I didn't really think David was dirty. Did anyone else? :-)

My daughter is in Florence and saw the David (with scaffolding!) this week. A sign was posted that said the cleaning would be completed May 31st.
