Info On Cadaques Welcomed

Hubby and I will be spending 5 days in Cadaques Costa Brava) in May and would like any info you would like to share. Thx.

We're visiting there in March. The New York Times had a terrific article about visiting off-season a few months ago, and all of their travel articles are available online. You may have to be a subscriber, but it's free to become one, and its travel articles alone make it worthwhile.

I just came back from Spain but didn't make it to Cadaques, it got too dark to drive up those windy roads in the dark of winter but I hear it's wonderful. It's about a 45 minute drive from Girona which would also be a wonderful place to stop. Have fun!!

Very pretty place--you will like it. However, the road out is not easy. You may feel a bit trapped for 5 days.

Hi

Its a nice place.
Nearby is Port Legat and Dali's house.
Its a bit remote ........... you can take a day trip to France by driving the coast road or Motorway via Figueras (Dali museum).
As someone said Gerona is well worth a visit.

Thanks everyone for ur comments. I don't know if living in Colorado will help driving the road, but I hope so.

We do plan to do a day trip to Girona and France. We'll have to see how hideous the road is hehe.

If it's too terrible, I guess we'll just have to hang out on the beach, drink our selves silly and eat wonderful food. Hmmm...I may declare the road is too bad even before we're on it:)

Hi

I first drove this road in the 70's. On the spanish side, there were no guard rails, the surface was broken up and it was very narrow. It improved on the French side.

Today it has been widened, most of the worst descents and ascents have been replaced by high level bridges. It's no problem, but still more challenging than The Pacific Coast highway. Its worth taking for the views.

Thanks, Peter, I feel a bit better. Maybe a 30 year wait was worth it:)
