we are going to wilderswil for a week them 5 days to lugano in late august 1999 Can anyone who has been to wilderswil please give me information on what kind of village it is and also how long it takes to go to interlaken from wilderswil. P.S I will be traving with inghams any stories to tell Thank you

I don't know much about Wilderswil except that it is a train stop on the route from Interlaken Ost to Grindelwald and to Lauterbrunnen. The mountain train that chugs up the mountain to Schynigge Platte leaves from there. It really a south suburb of Interlaken. Lauterbrunnen is about 5 or 6 miles up the line; Grindelwald is about 8 or 9 miles or so, after the train divides at Zweiluetschinen. It is flat with hills all around. I trust that you will be going elsewhere from Wildersil. Other than that I don't know much about it because I never got off of the train there.

Good afternoon, Sam WILDERSWIL as formentioned is a stop on the Berneroberlandbahn before Zwielutschinen, it is the bottom terminus for the cog railway going up to the Schynige Platte, from here trails lead by the Fauhorn and to Grindelwald First, either walk down or take a chair lift and return to Wilderswil by the BOB. Plenty of trails from the Mannlichen, Kleine Scheidegg, Wengen and Murren. LUGANO Lugano is a city with a lot going, it is on the lake shore, the city spreads out slong the lake shore for quite a few miles, however the center of town is the old town area with plenty of ristorantes and hotels in all prices, lake boats go to the small towns along the Lake Lugano, if you arrive by rail take the funicular down from the Bahnhof and you are in the old town section of Lugano. www.pubblinet.com/ www.tinet.ch/ www.citynet.ch/ www.tourism-ticino.ch/ PS Interlaken to Wilderswil -how about five minutes..... Good evening, Sam Have used Lugano as a departure point for air to Venice. Lugano to Venice is about a 35 min., flite on Crossair, (www.crossair.ch/) By rail you would have to go to Milano and then by rail to Venice would take about four hours, maybee more. Venice is not a one day place, would at least three nights and stay in Venice close to the Pza S. Marco. August can be very warm in Venice. Richard of Hickory Hills, Il...

when we were in lugano, we walked from our hotel to a small village area built into the side of a hill called Gandria...there are many italian restaurants there and it is very quaint. we had a great dinner there.

Wilderswil is just outside Interlaken ... 3 km. if I recall correctly ... perhaps less. The train ride is 3 minutes. Lovely little village outside the mountains. Several shops, hotels. We travelled from Venice to Lugano by train. It is approximately a 5 hour ride leaving Santa Lucia station and travels through Verano, Milano etc. We did Venice in 2 nights, 1 1/2 days and it was adequate.
