Inexpensive hotel very near Hotel Intercontinental in Paris?

Hey everyone,

I'm tagging along with a couple of girlfriends on their trip to France and Italy on a buddy pass on AA. I'm only going to be in Paris for three days, and while they are staying at the Hotel Intercontinental while in Paris, I don't want to spend $315.00 for a room. Do any of you seasoned travlers have any ideas for cheap hotels very near their hotel? I really appreciate your advice. Thanks, Melissa

Hi melissa,

Go to www.viamichelin.com and enter
2, Rue Scribe on "Maps".

Click "hotels".

You will get a dozen to start with.

Investigate these:

Victoria Chatelet - Twins 90E

Date: 05/13/2004, 04:37 pm Message: We have stayed and recommended the Hotel Victoria Chatelet for the past 20 years. Fantastic location, helpful hosts, etc. Their current rate is about 85 Euros per night and then 7 E each for breakfast. We never order the breakfast because of the great bakery just around the corner.

I think Patrick is right *and* I would hardly refer to the Madison as cheap.

The closest hotel that meets your needs would be the Hotel du Continent, a *** at 30 Mont-Thabor, just a block away. We usually stay at the sister hotel, Hotel Cambon, a **** on rue Cambon. Their promotional rates list a single for about 101E. Check out the discount sites. JP

I've stayed at the Victoria Chatelet, it's not a fancy property, but I highly recommend it for a clean, well located, inexpensive place to stay. The staff was helpful, and you are 1/2 block from the Metro and about 1 block from the Seine. I would stay there again.

I thought this exact same question was asked a couple months ago, I know someone was asking for cheap hotels in that area for similar reasons. I remember giving a couple suggestions, as did some others. I think I mentioned Hotel du Nil (10 rue du helder http://www.france-hotel-guide.com/h75009hoteldunil.htm) and the Hotel du Helder--both probably 2*, and the Hotel Daunou Opera www.pavillonparis.com a 3* but quite reasonable for that area. that one looks pretty nice

Christina
the Daunou Opera interested me, until I went to tripadvisor. There are only two comments, one from earlier this month, and that one is so terribly negative (in contrast to the other comment which is quite positive) that it almost makes me wonder if in the recent comment they've reviewed the wrong hotel.
