Inexpensive accomodations in Sorrento Area

We are a family of 3 looking for inexpensive lodging.
Sharing a bathroom is fine as long as it's clean.
Convents, pensione's, farmhouses even Hostels are fine.
We will travel by car to see Pompei/Sorrento/Amalfi Coast then fly home from Naples.
Thanks for your ideas. Joyce

What price range are you looking at?

I haven't stayed at either of these but they were recommended to me as budget accommodations - however if you're considering hostels I'm sure you can find something less.

Where are you traveling from? You may not need a car for the destinations you mention. I've done this area by public transport and it worked out well. For many areas of Italy I recommend a car but it's so easy to get around from Naples to Pompeii/Sorrento/AC by train and bus. Public transport would be less expensive than renting a car and buying gas.

I've stayed in both of these hotels that are on the main street in Sorrento and can recommend them. There are plenty of restaurants on the street and nearby and the train station (with bus to AC) is within a block of one of the hotels and a couple of blocks of the other. I hope they're within your budget as you did not specify an amount/night. The second hotel does not have its own web site but is mentioned on several sites. Check them all to find the best rate.

We stayed with a group of kids at the Hotel Savoia (www.venere.com has the best prices for this sort of search).

We liked it because as well as clean, bright and charming (with decent breakfasts) it did offer camera famiglia or family rooms. This is what to request in Italy if you need a non-standard configuration like 3 beds or a double (matrimonial) plus a single.

No water view, but inexpensive and well-located.

Are you interested in a B&B, or agriturismo? This is but one (very well reviewed) example of places that do not get much coverage but which, nevertheless, look lovely. Price range for a triple is 80-100 euro for BB, or 65 to 85 per person for full board (3 meals daily):

You could get around by bus. I have this marked for a visit on my next trip!

Sorry Joyce--I see that you will have a car. Knowing this, the place I linked above might be ideal...

I would take a look at one of the agriturismo or B&B sites. Like this one:

oh - also I hear of http://www.ulissedeluxe.com being recommended often (I have not stayed there though) It lists as a "hostel" and not "hotel", but it does have triple rooms and certainly seems more like a Hotel - I think it is only around 33euro per person, per night.

Try to check Gocce di Capri at termini - verry nice with pool. Or probably the Champing Fortunta at sorrento with Bungalows could be the better choice for you.

The link to Santa Fortunata:

(the bungalow prices for 3 run from €500,00-€840,00/week)

thank you so much I have sent an email to them both

ekscrunchy you are superb. That is the website I have been killing myself, wasting hours trying to find. Instead of 100 euro a night they are starting at 30 euro. So hopefully I will find something in the 50's. big kiss

Joyce PLEASE let us know how the B&B works out!

I think it will be an amazing, very personal place!

I am very happy to help!

We stayed at the Casa Astarita in Sorrento back in 2006 and could not have been happier with it www.casastarita.com

Back then, in my notes, a double was $90 and a double for single use was $80 -- not really sure if that was dollars or Euros though and I so believe they had triples

Excellent location too!

Joyce: Here another one in the area that gets great reviews; published rates are higher--110 euro in high season with breakfast for a triple room.

Add 20 euro more per person for half-board.

But my guess is that they would give you a better rate, too.
