Increased Security since Madrid Bombings??

Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone who has travelled from Madrid to the US (particularly NY) since the 3.11 bombings noticed any increased security measures either upon leaving Madrid, or upon entering the US?

Thanks.

Yes, security has been increased all over Spain. Main highways has police controls, and every car is controled by corps.

But I'm sure that you will have no problem at airports.

I sit here and review all this great information about Spain. I ask myself, are we crazy for still going to Spain? I am planning a trip at the end of April. I am very torn about how much time to actually spend there. As American tourists what is the risk of being confronted by unhappy Spaniards? Any thoughts?

Scooby, the risk would be higher if you were Moroccan. Remember, Spaniards could be against war in Irak, but the terrorist where Muslims, not Americans. And of course, not all the Americans are mister Bush, who can be seen as a cowboy.

Hope you'll enjoy your trip.

josemacall, once europe gets a few more bombings from these insane muslim fanatics, they may start to elect thier own "cowboy" leaders.

Well, it certainly didn't do much for the Spaniards , who could not had elected someone farther away from a "cowboy".... what amazes me is that barely a month after the bombings, almost all involved are caught/identified, the ringleader is dead, and here in the USA, three years plus after Sept 11th.....we are at war with Iraq (?).

The police, the intelligence services, and all the security staff must do their jobs.

Defeating terror is not an easy issue, and the main road to achieve it is stay all together. The reason is on our side, and we have to show that we are democratic countries, so we allow any way of thinking; but we are going to put all of our strength in from of them. We do not need to shout and say what is our reason, we must show it.

And of course, the way is not lies as those recognise by mister Powell. Saddam Hussein had his chance in 91, and he did nothing to become a good man. That is one good reason to defeat him, but in the moment the actions taken against him are supported by lies...

I think an American President must be showned as a solid man, with criteria for his actions because he's the most powerful man in the world, if you know what I mean.

Regards

Jose
