NYTraveler tells it the way it is: The First floor is one flight up from the Ground floor (Planta Baja). That's the way it is all over Europe. If someone is 'out of step,' it's us.
In Barcelona, cousin lived at Avda, Pi y Maragal, 75 (during the Franco years it was Avda. General Sanjurjo). Piso was on the third floor (4th by U.S. standards); but his building had a lift/Elevator.

That neighborhood is excellent!

Ned, Avinguda Pi i Margall is not Carrer or Plaça del Pi.

You are talking about a street locating in the north of Barcelona, near Parc Güell, and she is looking into a place in the Barri Gotic.

As some of us have mentioned, in Spain , specially in old buildings, we can also have "entresuelo" and "principal" before reaching the first floor.

Anyway, Carol, once more. I like the look of that apartment. In fact, I have sent the look to my sister, who was looking into something like that for next autumn.

Kind regards, Cova

for all concerned about flights til first floor.. only the apartment owner can tell you all the names of floors before the first (priemro).

it COULD be only one flight above ground floor.. but it COULD be actually three floors above ground floor.

(entresuelo and principal in between)

this depends on EACH indvidual building.. and is more likely in older buildings than new.
