Am leaving for Paris Thursday. What is the deal with the Euro? Are francs still accepted? If so, which is preferable? How 'bout ATMs? Do they give francs or euros? Will have to visit ATM upon arrival for cab. Do cab drivers take euros?

Thanks so much.

We were there earlier this month and used Euros. Yes the ATM's all dispense euros and cab drivers charge and accept euros. I think Francs are still accepted at the moment but I'd use Euros.

Hope this helps.
Rhonda

I read somewhere that francs can be used in France up until 2/17. I'm sure ATMs only give euros. Yes, cab drivers take euros; it is THE currency of France and the other countries of the EU that elected to use it.

Hi Lily,
in France, like the other elven EU Euro country too, shops and businesses are adviced to:
1 - accept local currency that was the national currency until in france end of february
2 - return only EUROs incl. ATM
So, if you still have FF u can use them, but certain machines or small shops/businisses will not accept small FF coints anymore, due tothe fact that they just have to organize two cash desks.
So if you like relicts, memorize your last french francs or donate them to
charity organisations.
Best regards
Shain/Germany/Düsseldorf
If you pay in francs you will get euros in change. Who takes euros? Everyone in France, effective Jan 01.
