In general how many points/miles....

does it take to fly from DFW to Europe? Specifically, we're planning for our June 2009 London/Paris excursion and wonder how many points we'll need to get there.

We have a Cap One card that accrues miles, although I'm not sure how many per $1. Need to ask DH about that. Also, DH has a good chunk of points with the AA frequent flyer program.

Anyway, just curious if there's like a general benchmark in terms of points needed to travel abroad. On the forums, I've seen references to 50-60K miles for one rt ticket. Of course all this varies, depending on time of year, specific destination, rewards program, etc.

Did that all makes sense? I hope so.
TIA,
CDG

For the AA account, it will be 60,000 miles for that time of the year. You won't be able to book it yet if you are going in 2009. You will be able to into/out of London, Frankfurt, Zurich,Brussels, Manchester and Rome ( and possibly a few others) if you book direct online, however, if you call the booking desk then your 60,000 miles can take you anywhere in Europe that British Air flies for no additional charge (except, taxes, etc.) You can fly open jaw into one gateway and out of another.

Thanks a bunch Poconolady. Sounds like at this point we've got enough on AA for one ticket!

Rex, The link didn't work for me. Would you mind posting it again?
