haaaaaaaaa! looking for a person with a car who may want to pick-up some bucks. taxi would, i think, be prohibitive $$$-wise for us. my alternative w/b to rent a car.......

hi bodhijack... taxi is NOT a good idea, from what i have heard - very very expensive. The man we rented our Sobe from offered to drive us on day-trips to Montenegro, Mostar, Sarijevo - wherever. We did not do it, as we were on a very very tight budget and opted for the Ferry to Mljet, though i believe it would have been the way to go - and i'm a bit bummed we missed out. He took a family to Mostar and Sarijevo and it was a full day - about 8hours - I think he said he charged them 150E... I can look for his number if you'd like. He lives right at the Pile gate and says he has a very nice car! He is quite friendly and a bit of a character.. excellent English as he lived in Florida for 4 years. Let me know if i can give you any more info.

callalilli, thanks for the reply. how long was the ferry ride to mljet? good scenery on the ride? what did you do on mljet? do ferries run continuously (or do you need to be on mljet all day)?

Several years ago when we were in Dubrovnik we had Miro take us to Montenegro (Atlas bus wasn't running at that time) and then to Korcula. He is a sweet gentle man who speaks passable English. His email at the time was miro-taxi at hi.htnet.hr; I hope it hasn't changed.

I wrote about our trip and Miro on my post, Ahhh, Croatia! It may be of some help to you.

I hope you have a wonderful time in that magical city.

He can drive you to destinations for some euros not at night because of no lights battery and drinking of the vodka.
