Importing Gifts to the UK

I am a United States Citizen. I am going to the UK for a visit to my best friend. I am bringing food with me because I have a gluten allergy. I am also bringing presents to my friend and her family. Do I have to declare these things to UK customs? What is my allowance to bring in? Does food for personal use (cereal, bread, uncooked pasta) count towards that allowance?

You can find gluten free products in the UK. Maybe this website will be of help

I dont think you people get my question. I am bringing my own food period. I know what is safe for me and I have brands I like. I dont want to waste time and money shopping for food and not liking the brand I purchased. I am asking what is my allowance for importing. For the US it is $800. How much am I allowed to bring in with out being taxed and does that include food for personal use.

You might want to read this web site for restrictions in the UK.
