Immigration/Customs Question
 

i am a US citizen traveling to Lyon, France for a few days and then on to Prague for a few days and back to Lyon. If my flight to Prague goes through, say Munich or Frankfurt, would I have to go through immigration/customs at that connection point and/or in Prague? I'm trying to figure out how much time I will need for the connection. Would an hour between connecting flights be enough? On the return trip, would customs/immigration be similar? Thanks so much for the assistance!

There are no regular border /passport controls between any of the countries in the Schengen treaty zone - these include France, Germany, and the Czech republic.

It will be treated just like a domestic flight in the US.

You go through immigration are your first entry point in Europe. Depending on the airport it could take longer than hour. I would plan closer to two hours since a number of small things can slow you down. With a couple of exceptions in Ireland, you would go through immigrations on your first entry point in the US.

Regarding connecting time, I've routinely done 50min connections in both Frankfurt and Munich without any issues. An hour is enough. If your incoming flight is delayed due to weather at the departing airport (been there, done that), then the airline will put you on the next available flight.

I find it useful to have the airline's local # on my cell phone in case rebooking is needed for some reason. Beats waiting in a long line at the service center (been there, done that).
