Immigration and metal detectors versus metal plates for broken bones

Having recently broken my wrist and had a metal plate with 9 screws permanently imbedded, I am concerned about future travelling snafus. Some have said it's no issue, some have said to take my X-rays with me always, some have said the passport (US) will be annotated to eflect my new, bionic being. What's the KNOWLEGEABLE info?

Tomboy;
I have a friend with a hip replacement. She notifies security about her hip when passing through and she get the old pat down routine then is sent on her merry way. We have never encountered any problems travel through Europe.

I've got a metal plate and six screws in my right wrist and have never had any problems with airport security. I've had the implant for five years now and have been to Fiji, Australia, Africa, Europe, and all over the US with no problems.
It doesn't set off the walk through metal detectors but if they wand me it will set that off. I just tell them that I've got a metal plate and they let me through. I don't think you need to start traveling with your x-rays

I have a friend who travels with "doctor's note" just for this reason. She does get wanded all the time and I don't think she has ever really used the note.

Always remember there could be an idiot to spoil your trip, so doctor's note wouldn't hurt, but can save you a headache.

Doctor's note or not, if you set off the alarm as you step through the gate (and that depends on the sensitivity of the specific equipment), you'll be pulled aside for wanding, so allow sufficient time--a few minutes, though it may seem like forever.
The screeners see passengers with metal parts every day and it is no big deal
