immersion hot water heater
 

Where can I buy an immersion hot water heater, 220 volt, in NY or Zurich? Is there any airport store in amsterdam or zurich that may sell it?

Our CAA ( AAA in USA) stores sell them with converters too. I have blown up 2, so just found buying a very small kettle in Europe( which needs no converter) worked.

thanks, I would buy one there too, but won't have a rental car and don't have time to go look for one. I wonder if there's a store in the airport or nearby that would sell it? or near the train station in zurich?

I am naive about these things - why would you want one - going camping - plug in coffee pots can heat tiny amounts of water.

why or why? And not criticizing just never heard of this for a traveler in Europe so am curious.

PalenQ, I always take an immersion heater or kettle suitable for Europe . Not camping, but for use in my hotel room. I like a hot chocolate before sleeping or a quick instant coffee in the room in the am before breakfast and cant be bothered with room service.I take one with me in North America too. Coffee makers "heat" water but never to boiling.

Immersion heaters are not very popular in Europe, but you can get an electric waterkettle for €10 at the Hema shop. Second option: Capi sells electronics and some power-articles, you may succeed there too. Both shops are located at Schiphol airport.

Are you only passing through Schiphol or are you also staying in Amsterdam?
If the latter then the ANWB (Dutch AAA) or an outdoor shop like Bever has what you want. More expensive than the Hema kettle though.
Hema is in the arrivals hall, so after passport control, which could be a problem if you are transferring.
