Immersion Class

I'm thinking of taking a weeklong immersion class in Italian. I'm impressed with a school called "Cultura Italiana" that has courses in Bologna, Arezzo and Maremma. Anyone have any experience? Thanks.

No comment. I just thought it was soooo funny that this post came up right next to the one titled "Baptist Church".

Uh-oh, Patrick. I opened this post to make a similar comment. I thought maybe the author was looking for baptism instruction or something.

I can recommend Cultura Italiana. I haven't taken the immersion course, but I have taken private lessons there. Very good. Any of the three cities/towns would also be a good choice, depending on what your priorities are.

I grew up in Italy but have been here for 30 years. Much of my family are still there. Even though we go back every year to see them, and I always work on keeping my Italian, they have a dialect.I have been to Florence to take immersion classes to work on what the Florentines call "the perfect Italian". I don't know the school you're talking about, but I can highly recommend immersion courses. You do learn a lot in a short amount of time. It will take a lot of work and homework, but if you're determined, you will do well.

Some where on this website there's a listing of various schools for foreigners in Italy, including ones with short-term immersion classes. http://italian.about.com/ You can also click on the link to "forums" and then search for messages posted in the past on this topic, or you can post a question yourself. (However, there are not a lot of posts on this topic.)

Pick Bologna if you can. A very lively city.
