Ile St. Louis or Latin Quarter

We will be in Paris this summer and are trying to choose between two apartments. One on the Ile St. Louis and one in the Latin Quarter (Rue Lanneau). I assume both are centrally located. We have teenage kids and are fine walking. We are concerned that the Latin Quarter may be too loud at night. Any thoughts?

I vote for Ile St-Louis, a charming and convenient location.
Our kids loved it there.

I don't believe that area of the Latin Quarter will be noisy, but agree that Ile St-Louis is likely the better choice.

Thanks. Are there restaurant/cafes on the Ile? How far a walk from the Ile to the more lively areas on the left bank?

The location on Rue Lanneau is at the Sorbonne and not in the noisy touristic area. I can walk between there and the Isle in 10 minutes. If it matters to you it is an uphill walk from the Seine, Notre Dame or Place St. Michel area to Rue Lanneau. Either location would be good but the Isle is a tad more centrally located to the things that interest most visitors.

I stayed in an apartment on the rue Lanneau with my daughter when she was in college and we both loved the area. It is not at all loud, it is a very small and quiet street, one block of which is pedestrians only. Lots and lots of cafes and restaurants including many inexpensive options within a few blocks.

I would much prefer this to the Ile St. Louis, which has its charms, but my daughter and I enjoyed the student atmosphere in the rue Lanneau area.

No question about it, Ile St. Louis!!!! So charming, so
centrally located with wonderful boutiques, cafes, ice cream!
We stayed in the Marais and while we enjoyed it very much,
when we ventured to Ile St. Louis we would have preferred staying there. You can't go wrong! Have fun!
