Il était une fois l'Orient Express (Institut du Monde Arabe, Paris)
Good afternoon/morning
I just attended this exhibit, this morning,. Very well done and rather thrilling to be aboard the actual cars. What fascinating history! I learned so much this morning. Did you know that Lalique did many of the crystal decorations? Did you know the Venice rail line was built to accommodate the Orient Express? Did you know that it went beyond Istanbul, and that route is called the Taurus Express? Parts of this route were not served by train and a car was needed. Rolls Royces were used for parts of that route. Keep in mind all placards are in French only. If you don't speak French you might want to read a little history beforehand. http://www.imarabe.org/exposition-ima-11859 is the official exhibit link.
