Iguanas in Amsterdam

I was looking at an Amsterdam website and there were pictures of the Leidesplein area. One (which was not identified) was of a huge building with a little fenced-in park in the front. In the park were a bunch of people and lizards/iguanas. Does anyone have any idea what this is? I am really curious.

Thanks

It is in front of the big movie theater in Leidsplein. It's a little grassy area that is fenced in.

Thank you all for your answers. Now my curiosity is satisfied. Of course, now I have to go see them while I'm there just because it's so bizzare.

My husband, after much coaxing, did let me photograph him tickling the chin of one of the "iguanas" (they are statues).

Does anyone know WHY they're there? Not native to the Netherlands as far as I know!

I have been there. They are bronze colored sculptures, each around 3 feet long and placed in various positions, like garden statues. My son loved them. They were in a little fenced in garden planted with flowers. There are several dozen of them and they ARE funny. You're not supposed to walk inside the fence, but my son jumped over so fast I couldn't stop him and no body said anything.
