"Supermarkets like Migros in Switzerland often sell it pre-scraped"
So do supermarkets in France including my local G20. It should not be difficult to find in Strasbourg.

Yes, it appears you are correct Michael.

I'm not an American but had heard unpasteurized cheese was illegal. It appears it is illegal in some States but not others but that is not a Federal Customs issue.

Apprently, you have a long history of 'fear of cheese'. ;-)

Oops, should be it is not a Customs issue if aged more than 60 days. Dang, those pesky US Customs nit pickers.

Sorry, cleraly I had a bunch of typos in the last post. Don't post at the end of the night.

The tete de moin was scraped at Fauchon right in front of us, as the worker was making small cheese assortment trays to take away, so it was fresh and interesting to watch him.

I am American and Michael is right but many customs agents aren't lear on all the rules regarding importing foods, so even when you are within the law/rules, you get your item confiscated.

There are fewer restrictions against unpasteurized cheeses these days ...I don't take anything like that back. Not worth haggling over it if a customs agent decides it's not OK. I know others who bring all kinds of things back without issue and others who got everything thrown away in front of their eyes at customs.
