If you had 2 days between Cinque Terre and Venice - Where would you go???

We'll be in Italy in October - where would you go for two days between these two places.

We'll be traveling by train . . .

Thanks in advance,
Carol

Is this your first trip to Italy Carol, or at least your first visit to CinqueTerre and Venice?

We're taking our first trip to Italy in October and both Venice and CT are on our itinerary.

Every traveler's taste and wants are different, but if I had to choose just one for a quick 2 day nibble, I'd take Venice because it is unique of any place in this world. Then again, you may be wanting a more serene, quieter experience like the CT proposes to give. It's possible that you may feel a bit hurried trying to do CT in 2 days time, while many hit Venice for a quickie trip.

Also, a deciding factor might be time travel by train (are you coming from an area closer to Venice or CT) since you have limited time.

Good luck!

Oops - I realize my post may not be clear.

We've been to Italy before and are staying in the Cinque Terre for a few days and Venice for a few days.

But we have 2 days from the time we'll leave the CT until we need to be in Venice.

So, I'm looking for places to go/stay geographically between the CT & Venice.

I hope this makes more sense!
Thanks,
Carol

For 2 days, I suggest Bologna.

Hello Carol, I too love Bologna and would recommend it but it is difficult to do so as I have no idea what your interests are. I assume you have been to Florence before?

If you do decide to spend your time in Bologna I would make your hotel reservations immediately as Bologna has a lot of trade shows and often it is very difficult to get reservations.

Michael, ira & LoveItaly:
Thanks for the suggestion for Bologna. I'll check it out.

Yes, we've been to Florence before and we love food, museums, history, strolling, people-watching...

I would prefer Verona with a day trip to Sirmione on Lake Garda.

I was going to recommend Verona, too. Perhaps Lake Como as an alternate.
