If you could afford it, and wanted to spend the money, which hotel would you choose in Paris??
 

Also, I haven't been able to obtain detailed info about operas and plays in Paris. Ideas?

I'm with Pierre:) George V is recently renovated and a "Four Seasons" property to boot. Perhaps in some other lifetime. *sigh*

Since I have never spent more on a hotel room than I have on the plane flight (and I travel with the luggage), I wouldn't know which of these mega francs hotels was the best, but I like the reviews of the Hotel Bristol. <BR> <BR>If someone else wants to pay--LOL--I'd be game. In the meantime I'll keep home exchanging.

The Ritz will do nicely <BR>

Friends are staying at the Hotel Meurice at the moment and they are pretty happy with it--among the things they like is the in-room computer (not just data port access). We're meeting up with them for a meal at Les Ambassadeurs in the Crillon. However, we usually stay at smaller hotels in the 7th. For Paris, the "grand hotel" style doesn't interest me that much--I like the nice smaller hotels just fine. <BR>Re operas, we saw Le Chauvre Souris (Die Fledermaus) at the Bastille Opera on Dec. 30, 2000, and purchased our tickets through the opera-de-paris.fr web site. We had very good seats with an excellent view. The Bastille seats are not terrifically comfortable (I was ok, but my 6'2" husband was tired by the drive down from Brussels and found the seat cramped).

Crillon. <BR>I walked past it any number of times on my way to my cheap hotel and was always intrigued. <BR> <BR>But it feels immoral to spend that kind of money on a hotel when even one child is hungry in the world, so I stay in the cheap hotel and I'm happy.
