where would it be and when? Any particular reason you'd choose that spot?

Southern Africa...South Africa is the most amazing place I have yet to visit, with beautiful beaches and coastline, wonderful winelands, game reserves and amazing game lodges, etc.

Not to be forgotten, nearby is Victoria Falls, other amazing game viewing in Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

After two consecutive years going to Southern Africa, it is now my wife's turn to pick and I am half-heartedly going to Italy and likely adding Austria and Switzerland, hence my reason for being on this board right now.

It's going to tough to choose between Italy, Greece, and the Middle East, particularly Petra.

On the whole, I think Italy because it's easier to learn the language, it is the country of Roman civilization, Renaissance and Baroque art, good food and music.

I visit Greece at least once a year during the summer and can't imagine not doing so - for the weather, food, scenery, people and general laid-back way of life.

There are parts of Asia that I've visited and I know I will return to and also other Asian countries that I've not yet visited, but hope to get around to eventually. Just because it's so different from my "normality".

But for a once-in-a-lifetime trip, if time and money were no object, then I'd love to spend a couple of months touring Australia to see a bit of the country, visit relatives I haven't seen for many years and dive the Great Barrier Reef.

As I am a Roman historian, the one place that I would like to visit in the world is "Cleopatra's Island" off the coast of Turkey. Mark Anthony actually "built" the island for Cleopatra as a token of his love; dredging up the sands of the Nile and transporting it over in ships to Turkey. The island is 2,000 years old and is protected as such - one must remove their shoes when getting onto the return boat as the sands cannot leave the island. I have heard it is a truly magical place - I hope to get there someday soon!

Back to the South Island of New Zealand for the 3rd time!

Vienna! I can never get enough of its wonderful wine, food, culture and excellent kaffehaus. I'm going back for three weeks this Aug-Sept...can't wait!

Tahiti -- it has always sounded remote and terribly romantic.
