If not Lisbon, where??
 

Hello, second trip to Portugal, this May. Waited a little too long to book. The amazing hotel we stayed at last year, Hotel do Chiado, is booked. We got very spoiled there-had a large patio with incredible view of the castle and the harbor. It was spectacular. Can’t see anything comparable that’s not soooo expensive. ( Our splurge this time is up in Gaia/Porto so can’t do two splurges). We liked Lisbon, but not as much as Porto, and did most of the museums last year. The question is: are there other close-by places to stay with good views and where we could day trip into Lisbon for a museum or two? Just wanting to check out other options. Thank you

Cascais at the sea with 3 urban beaches. Lovely, well-groomed, very pretty town with wonderful seafood, great for both walkers and cyclists, commuter train ride into Lisbon's Cais do Sodré station takes 40 min.

Have you taken a look at Sintra? 45 min by train and you could visit Pena Palace and Quinta da Regaleira. Chalet Saudade was a nice place to stay.

Well, we just decided to do it all !! Decided we really wanted to stay in Lisbon, so unexpected splurge at Altis Avenida. Just booked last room for our dates at Chalet Saudade. I could not resist that place. It looks so interesting. Also will be staying in Cascais a couple days. Thank you both for your recommendations.
