If I speak English in Paris -- Will they know I'm not French?

Or might they think that I'm a local who just prefers to speak English? Please help!

If you've got a German accent, you'll fool 'em for sure.

In any case, speaking French is easy. In American movies, what French people speak sounds a lot like english, only with a funny accent and bad grammar.

Not if you speak it with a French accent.

No, speaking English in Paris will not give you away but white sneakers will get you picked up by the fashion police.

There is no problem speaking English in any country throughout the world. Just yell in English at the top of your lungs, and it sounds like whatever language is spoken by the locals. They will immediately understand you perfectly; it's even better if you enunciate ver-rr-y s-lo-w-ly. But the most important part is the yelling.
