CWN, I'm assuming you plan to spend some time at the In Flanders Field museum. It really is worth it, an excellent interactive museum. If you do, let us know the name of the person you end up "being" for your visit. The guy behind end up being Adolf Hitler!
Also, perhaps while you are there, you will run into the local excitement when a farmer turns up a still live WW I explosive. They find them every year, supposedly there are still thousands buried in Flanders and northern France. |
I wasn't criticising, I just thought more people would recognise Ypres than Ieper, and that that would be more helpful to you.

Thanks BTike- Thanks, I read another comment on the FF Museum. Sounds very interesting and fun. I know my husband will enjoy that. We hope we can visit "Shrapnel Charlie" out side of Ypres. He uses those "bomb bits" to make toy soldiers and stuff. Another poster told me about him.
PatrickLondon- You are right, I never seem to give enough detail in my headngs. However, I wasn't really talking about the title suggestions. |
AnselmAdorne -
LOL, looks like I wasn't the only one that made that mistake. Look more closely, that's a capital "I" not an "L". Cheer up, cwn. Just imagine the headaches of planning a trip to Leningrad, the City Once and Now Again Known As St. Petersburg - uh, Petrograd - uh.....anyone have a Cyrillic alphabet keyboard handy? :)) |
Sue xx yy- I did in 1998. It was a great trip! However, I just used guide books and then a travel agent friend to make bookings for what we wanted. I'm sure there were things we missed, for lack of first hand info like is available on Fodro's. Actually, that is still an Ok way to travel, but after getting Fodor's infro for our 2 great trips to China, Vietnam, Thailand and Japan I am really spoiled.
