iDTGV Train Tickets - Booking

Hi all - I've been trying to purchase TGV tickets from Paris to Avignon on the iTGV website and am having difficulty when I get to the phone number field. It won't accept my US number. Having tried all combinations with the country code, + signs, etc. Ready to pull my hair out, but not a great look while on vacation.

Has anyone been successful with this portion of the form?

Thanks.

Try using this website. No extra cost and much easier to use, especially with credit cards. I am guessing you haven't gotten to that part yet.

Thank you for the great recommendation DebitNM! What an easy to use site, less expensive as well.

captaintrain has the same prices as the SNCF and the idTGV.

You can also purchase tickets at:

www.idtgv.com

When a French website, such as www.voyage-sncf.com or the above site asks for a phone number, they want a French phone number. You can use your hotel´s number or any 10 digit number beginning with ¨0¨.

Yes, I've been successful with that form, have filled it out numerous times.

If you are talking about the mobile phone field, they want a 10 digit number that begins with 06 as that's what French mobiles have.
That field will not accept any 10 digit number nor any number beginning with zero, it wants something that looks like a French mobile phone number. They aren't going to call you anyway, except for some delay perhaps it is automated, but if you don't care about getting those (which you won't anyway), just stick in 10 digit number beginning with 06

Thank you Christina, I tried the 06 combo but I suppose I didn't enter the right amount of numbers.

f1racegirl - I managed to save $75 booking through captaintrain for my particular dates in July. Maybe I just got lucky.

Saved $75, compared to which site? I have never noticed any price variance between Captain Train and the SNCF, or idTGV for the same trains.

There's no price variation between capitainetrain and the SNCF or iDTGV. You just got the normal price. Maybe it was cheaper than Rail Europe - it always is.
