Ideas for a weekend break?

I am working in London and have been able to enjoy the cheap and accessible travel destinations to the continent. To date, I have travelled to:

Amsterdam
Brussels
Paris
Stockholm
Dublin
Edinburgh
Athens
Italy - spent a glorious week in Tuscany, with trips to Venice, Florence and Rome

I would like to begin exploring Eastern Europe and have read many postings about Prague, Budapest, Vienna, etc and am just looking for suggestions for weekend travel destinations. Hi C,

>I am working in London and have been able to enjoy the cheap and accessible travel destinations to the continent.<

Go ahead, rub it in. And you want us Americans, sitting here in the cold and dreary Winter to help you go on another cheap weekend to someplace that we would love to be?

Pah!! :) :)

All three of your ideas are well worth a weekend.

You needn't go that far.
Brugge
Antwerp
Brussels...

Surely char1 has seen the many adverts and brochures for tour companies offering short breaks all over central and Eastern Europe as well as western and southern Europe? Or the newspaper articles about the next big thing? You can get packages not only to Prague, Budapest and Vienna, but also to the Baltic states (Tallin, Riga, Vilnius), Poland (Warsaw, Krakow), Russia (St Petersburg and Moscow) and also less well-signposted destinations like Bratislava, Bucarest, Sofia.

What about Montenegro south of Croatia? Great beaches and good for a 3 day weekend.

Don't leave us hanging? Cheap and...cheerful? Sleazy? Crowded? Inquiriing minds want to know.

Krakow is on my list for next month; although Wroclaw is supposed to be one of the contenders for The Next Big Thing. Or Slovenia (you could combine Slovenia with the Austrian city of Graz or resort town of Klagenfurt, both of which are served by cheap airlines and make good starting points).

There are good fares from London to the South of Spain. Seville would be a great destination.
