Ideas For A Week in Northern Spain
Next June I've got a week to explore northern Spain. I will have already visited San Sebastian and Bilbao, and am thinking of driving to Santiago de Compostela, leisurely visiting various places in Asturias and along the coast in between. Can you help with suggestions, tips, etc.? Where should I stay and which places are must-visit? Thanks for any ideas.

With one week, you will need to be selective. I strongly recommend that you consult a good guide book or two, perhaps the Michelin Green Guide and/or Rough Guide. And you might get some ideas from my trip report:

Here is a link to my 2013 trip to northwestern Spain, maybe it will give you some ideas of where you would like to go.
If you play it in slideshow mode, you should be able to see the captions that I have added on a number of the pics.
Each pic of a new town/village has the town name written on the first pic.

In a week in June, are you interested in beaches? Some nice beaches along the coast of Asturias. Detour into the Picos de Europa for some sightseeing/hiking.
We drove from Santiago de Compostela to Leon then up to Potes through the Picos. Then to the coast at LLanes, and explored some beautiful beaches there. Comillas is also very nice.
You will not have time to drive leisurely along and also visit Galicia.

If you fly into Bilbao and out of Santiago, then yes, it's possible to take a drive along the north coast, ending up in Santiago, just don't plan on spending too much time in one location. It will be one-night stops; two in Cantabria, two in Asturias, finishing with a three in Galica. The distance is around 600 km.

Thanks for all your suggestions! Looks like I have to work on finding some more time. I've been to other parts of Spain multiple times but never to the north coast, so I'm really looking forward to it.
