Ideas for a February month vacation in Southern Europe/Mediterranean
 

My husband and I (seniors), want to spend a month(?) in February in Southern Europe/Mediterranean. We are not sun worshippers, but would like mild weather 70F-80F. I first thought of Tuscan, Italy or the French/Italian Rivera. But when my husband clicked on Sicily, we were surprised that the temps were below what we expected.(their winter) Would everything be closed down, due to being seasonal?
We would like to do a couple of weeks in a couple of places or rent a condo. Would be good to take day trips around, maybe B&B, or even a rental on a golf course (if fees are not real expensive.) We could do car rental, rail or buses. We just want to get out of the cold weather in NH. We've done Florida and wanted to try Europe. Any suggestions or itinerary of someone that's done this. I really need some advice. Maybe, I'm asking a lot!!!! What about Malta in Jan-Feb? Could we find enough to do and see for a month?

I noticed using weatherunderground.com the average temp on 15 Feb in Palermo is on the 50's and the average in Valenica, Spain, is in the 60's for that same date.

I know people spend wintertime(s) in southern Spain; ,some fly to the Canary Islands, etc., etc. Am sure folks will have some good suggestions.

I was in Spain for a month in January. I attended a Spanish school in Madrid, but I went to Granada and Sevilla on weekends. I really enjoyed it. It was such a change from January in Spokane. I wouldn't call it exactly warm, but it was certainly pleasant, especially in the south.

I don't think you are going to find those temps in europe in Feb. It's a temperate - not semi-tropical climate. You really need to look at the Carib or Hawaii.

You can easily find out on your own how the temperature looked like in 2013 and 2014 without having to wait for someone to tell you.

Europe is in the Northern Hemisphere. If you want places that warm in this hemisphere, you have to go way further south. The obvious choice of warm places in February is the Southern Hemisphere.

Thanks everyone for your replies and suggestions. And yes, once I realized the est. temperatures for our potential destinations; I figured them being off season during the winter months.

Maybe Sicily would be Ok and we could do a lot of sight seeing between Catania, Palermo and Messina. Or do you think many points of interest would be closed for the season?????

Sights will be open, although around Etna you would be very limited as to access to the upper elevation. But in cities like Palermo and Catania, I would expect temps in the 60s, not 70s, and you could get mainly rainy or overcast days.

The border that separates the Italian and French Riviera claims to have the sunniest weather in Europe, on a day to day basis, although that doesn't always translate into warm in February. But you can see it was much more sunshiny than Palermo in previous years
