I appreciate the additional thoughts. We're definitely not going to try to do Stonehenge on this trip. We just don't have the time and have prioritized other options. On the soccer/football match, I think we'll be ok. We've got lunch reservations at a sports bar in Westfield shopping centre, and will just have to deal with the crowds for taking the tube back to where we're staying.

I do have one additional question - does anyone have a recommendation for somewhere to have afternoon tea in/near Hyde Park / Kensington Palace area that would be open on a Monday?

The Pavilion at Kensington Palace, the V&A, the Candella Tea Room, Harrods (several options throughout the store besides the actual Tea Room), Fortnum & Mason, the Wolseley. Most of these will be open every day but some may be closed on Mondays. They range from quite casual to pretty posh.

Thank you, Janisj. Will the places that are pretty posh expect us to be dressed smartly? We're going to be site seeing, so will likely be wearing casual clothes and comfortable walking shoes (likely sneakers). Does that limit us in where we can go for afternoon tea?

Only the posh up market hotels will have a true dress policy. I didn't list any of those. One would always want to be neat and clean (not assuming you wouldn't be ;) )

The Orangerie at Kensoington Place does a wonderful afternoon tea.

They've opened a new Pavilion at the Palace which has replaced the Orangery (I'm not sure if there are plans to re-open the Orangery). The Pavilion is closer to the sunken Garden.
