I appreciate the additional thoughts. We're definitely not going to try to do Stonehenge on this trip. We just don't have the time and have prioritized other options. On the soccer/football match, I think we'll be ok. We've got lunch reservations at a sports bar in Westfield shopping centre, and will just have to deal with the crowds for taking the tube back to where we're staying.
I do have one additional question - does anyone have a recommendation for somewhere to have afternoon tea in/near Hyde Park / Kensington Palace area that would be open on a Monday? |

The Pavilion at Kensington Palace, the V&A, the Candella Tea Room, Harrods (several options throughout the store besides the actual Tea Room), Fortnum & Mason, the Wolseley. Most of these will be open every day but some may be closed on Mondays. They range from quite casual to pretty posh. |

Only the posh up market hotels will have a true dress policy. I didn't list any of those. One would always want to be neat and clean (not assuming you wouldn't be ;) )

The Orangerie at Kensoington Place does a wonderful afternoon tea. They've opened a new Pavilion at the Palace which has replaced the Orangery (I'm not sure if there are plans to re-open the Orangery). The Pavilion is closer to the sunken Garden. |
