IcelandAir Package
I've booked a two-night package to Iceland through IcelandAir obviously, we have tours planned I was just wondering if anyone had any great "budget" dining recommendations. We are going May 10, 2008.
Thank you! |
there is nothing remotely budget in Iceland IME
this is perhaps the world's most expensive country at least that i've been in a beer or glass of wine probably costs $10 or more in a restaurant budget dining thus means bring your own dinner in - even supermarkets are outrageously expensive |
keep topping and sooner or later someone will expertly answer your question
must be a McDonalds there i guess |
As you have already been told, Iceland is very expensive.
A budget meal would be a hot dog purchased from a vendor on the sidewalk. A budget drink is one from a bottle that your purchased at the airport. I remember the first round of drinks I bought in Iceland and the knot in my stomach when I realized that each beer we were about to drink cost $11.00. You are going to be there only 2 nights; come up with some extra money and enjoy yourself. In your mind, budget for a 5 day trip to a normal priced location and spend it all during your 3 days. |
There is a small restaurant on the Laugavegur called Svarta Kaffid. Its on Laugavegur 54. They are pretty famous for doing soup that comes served IN a crusty bread roll. Very filling and very very nice. Over the last three times ive been to Reykjavik ive never had a bad meal there. Last time they started a special deal of soup with a pint for 1500kr (£12) when considering that the soup is 1100kr on its own is very good value for Reykjavik. Would also recommend Vegamot but more expensive. Have a great time.

Not sure whether you are from Europe or the USA. Im from Middlesbrough in the U.K. and while I agree that Iceland is an expensive destination, it was not as expensive as I thought it was going to be.

Thank you for the suggestions...yes I hear it's expensive but I just wanted to get a feel for "expensive". $10 a beer is a norm in Boston and NYC at the nicer places so I can handle that especially on vacation.
I am travelling from Boston, we live in NH. Thank you again! |
