Iceland trip report

Hi. I went to Iceland in May 2016 and had 6 days there to explore the south west coast as we had a base in Reykjavik. Here is my trip report with photos, links and Google map: http://gardkarlsen.com/Iceland_trip_report.htm . I enjoyed Iceland a lot and we got to check out places like Blue Lagoon, Seljalandsfoss, Gullfoss, geysers, Seljavallalaug etc. But we also got to do Inside the volcano and Inside the glacier Langjokull! We stayed in Reykjavik and used a rental car to get around most days. At night we checked out restaurants in Reykjavik. I hope that you guys can find some useful information in the trip report. Get in touch if you have any questions and I'll be happy to answer :-)

Regards
Gard

Hey Gard! I'm just starting to read your blog and am enjoyingit very much. I am up to the part about snorkeling in the tectonic plates. I have started planning my own trip to Iceland-targeting for July 2017. I've already gotten a few good ideas from your trip report and am sure I will find more as I continue reading.

Thanks for posting. And great photos!

Gard -

Very much enjoying your trip report. We are in the very early stages of planning a short stay in Iceland - Iceland Air is offering a six night stopover on the way to Zurich.

It's been on our wish list for awhile, so seems the perfect opportunity, but we know very little about it, so hurriedly trying to do some research and determine if we should go via tour (not usually our style) or on our own.

Your post is timely and quite helpful, thank you!

PS: Gard - is there any hope for a non-seafood, non horse meat eater in Iceland?

Enjoyed your report! My husband and I are planning a trip in Jun-Jul 2017.

Melnq8,
We just got back from Iceland and I'll have a TR lately. But to answer your PS, if you like lamb, you'll have lots of that.
In Reykjavik, you can also find chicken, beef, pasta, etc. Outside of Reykjavik your options will be limited.

Their butter is the best I ever had, and every restaurant seems to bake their own bread. I could live on fresh bread + butter :)

Thanks xyz99, don't eat lamp either, but I can live off bread and butter too!

I'm glad to see that you have gotten some good advice from my trip report. Sorry about the late reply - I didn't get any e-mail to indicate that people had replied to this thread. Since this I have also posted a trip report from Norway so feel free to also check out that :-)

Regards
Gard
