Iceland Itinerary Help!

Planning a honeymoon to Iceland Oct 25-Nov 9. Obviously the northern lights will be during this time, but i would love some help deciding what else to do there during this time! Blue Lagoon spa is on our list and we are flying into Reykjavik. We love history and the outdoors and are open to pretty much anything.

Thanks everyone!

Two weeks maybe too much time to spend in Iceland at that time of of year. With that much time a lot of people do the ring road but the weather could be a problem. Maybe someone more familiar with Iceland will comment.

Perhaps you could read a guidebook to make a list of what appeals to you.

i suggest looking at the suggestions of tour companies such as "Discover the world" and other Iceland specialists. you may not want to use their services but they may give you some ideas about what is and isn't achievable at that time of year.

At the beginning of your trip expect a little more than 81/2 hours of daylight and about 71/2 at the end. Weather will be unpredictable, but then weather in Iceland is almost always unpredictable. Last there, we experienced all 4 seasons including a snow flurry during the same day, and that was in July. Expect times of rain. If you plan photography, you will be well served with a weather sealed camera. We use a Fuji S1 bridge camera on travels and it does well and I do not have to be concerned with using it in the rain. It takes fine photos.

Eight hours or so is enough time to rush through the Golden Circle route, but you can break it up into sections to give you more time at each site. Driving is easy on the main roads and they are well marked.
