Iceland for 2.5 weeks till mid october : Advice please

Jump to last reply

Hello fellow forum members.
We are going to iceland(2 people) for a period of approx 18 days or so.
Our trip starts end sept and continues till mid october.

Our tentative iternary
Arrive in Iceland, rent a cheap 4x4 for about 8-9 days

Then rent a ordinary 2WD camper for 9 days.

I am thinking like this
8-9 days we will hang out in south iceland + north-east iceland (myvatn) and also do the F35 if open, otherwise take the ring road.

How does
4-5 nights in south near gulfloss + 1 nights near glacier lagoon + 3 nights in myvatn sound

Then with the camper we head to west iceland (no F road business) and go till the northwest corner too!

We want to do 4x4 riding in first week of october because it gives us a better chance at F35.

We like to see big waterfalls, glaciers, the fjords, pyramid mountain, red hot lava too.

Would also like to see if there is a map of geothermal pools.

Any tips and suggestions welcome.
