cic- I guess what I meant was that I never saw tofu or beans on menus. Of course, I was in very rural places, but I cook/eat a lot of vegetarian meals here and am used to that sort of thing. Cilantro and Coriander aren't the same in cooking here...Coriander is the seed, ground, of the plant. Funny, most people love it or loathe it, I crave it and put it in everything, lol.

LLindac: the oils in cilantro/koriander
react with one's palate - so different
people have different taste sensations:
i.e. one of my daughters hates it - it
tastes like 'soapy dirt' to her while
my other daughter loves it......

And some of us are highly allergic to it. If I eat anything in the apiacae family (coriander, cilantro, etc.) I get violently ill within 15 minutes. If I have eaten enough, I have to go to the hospital.
Tell your daughter that she's right--it DOES taste exactly like soapy dirt! If you're allergic to it, the problem gets worse over time.

Kswl, I am delighted that Coca-Cola Blak is sold in the US (I have never tasted it myself) -- my point was the stange idea that the Coca-Cola company started selling it in France before any other country in the world (including the U.S.) to see if it was a viable product. Go figure.

I miss screens on the windows.
I don't mind the lack of AC, but without it, I want to open the windows. Unfortunately, I get terrible allergic reactions to mosquito bites...even with deet or other repellents.

Ah, yes, screens.
I mentioned before on this forum the question asked by French workmen who were asked to install window screens on a country home for an American lady in the Dordogne.
"But how are the flies supposed to get out?", was their puzzled query.
