Ibiza / majorca ? Any suggestions
I have never been to Ibiza or Majorca and would like to go to one or the other in September. I would like some advice. I'll admit to being a cultural snob and despising the usual "BRIT" style holidays and am looking for a relatively quiet beach spot with the emphasis on having a pleasant relax in a beautiful location - any ideas?

Portinatx on the north of Ibiza island may suit you.
Local buses run regularly to Ibiza town (30 minutes or so) plus some of the other smaller villages should you not wish to rent a car. Taxis are of course available.
It is a very small town (almost village!) with nice beaches and a few good hotels.
Oh, and you will not be able to avoid Brits on the island as it is a major tourist destination from all parts of the UK. This place howevever is very far removed from what you will find at the noisier club and pub orientated San Antonio.
I can recommend a hotel in Portinatx if you are interested. Let me know.

We are booked September to stay at Ibiza (Talamanca) which is just out of Ibiza town and far enough away to simply laze on the lovely beach. Hotel is Playa Real Hotel. You can read about it on web. Not really suitable for kids but definitely for those who are not really into clubbing.

Both Ibiza and Majorca have lovely parts and it's great if you can hire a car and go and explore the islands. In the north of Majorca there are some lovely resorts with great beaches and they feel a million miles away from the busy resort of Magaluf. I would suggest a visit to Deia, Valledemossa and Pollensa. Port Andratx is also nice and it's closer to Palma so you could visit the capital.

Bumping because I am COLD! and looking for a quick getaway in the sun. So, David, did you go to Ibiza? How was it? Your original post sounded like my type of holiday. What did you end up doing?
Cheers,
Jan
