Iberia - how to order online

I found the website and just what I wanted, but unable to order tickets from the US. The way I understood it (might have been faulty) is that tickets could be held for you for only 72 hours after booking and then the booking would be cancelled.

I know that lots of Fordorites use Iberia. What is the secret to getting your tickets?

Also, the website! After an hour (no kidding) both times, I get to the registration and I wait and wait and then get the "timed out" message! I tried again but same thing happened. any clues here?

I've wasted about half of Independence Day! Time for burgers and beer and some time with friends!

Dear Mama,

I just simulated bookin a flight from Miami to Barcelona. It was very easy.

I went to www.iberia.com. Where it says "Iberia en/in" I found USA. Everything was in English.

In three steps I had a flight, had registered as a customer and had gotten to the page that asked for my credit card.

Hope this helps.

Hi Carol,
I'm not sure why you're having difficulties with Iberia.com. Make sure you pick the USA site before you begin.
Now, that said, I'm not sure why you would want to fly with Iberia. At best they are somewhat below average airline.
If the airline has to be part of the OneWorld alliance, I would definately pick BA or Swiss to get you to your final destination for about the same price, although you would have to connect through either London or Zurich, or AA will get you to Madrid. If OneWorld is not an issue, I would pick Delta, USAir, Air France, Lufthansa anyday over Iberia. I'm not sure what your final destination is, but any of the above airlines will get you to Madrid and/or Barcelona, where you could connect with Iberia or a low cost airline.
Why don't you try to price your trip on Expedia.com or Travelocity.com or Cheaptickets.com. If you have to fly Iberia, you could designate that airline during your fare search on any of the above sites. If you don't specify any particular airline, you may be surprised what the others have to offer.
Good luck!

I've tried BA.com and expedia but their prices are $200 more. Any other experiences with Iberia?

I dunno what's the problem
Ira, do you have high speed internet service? Like I said, I was on so long - trying to register - (waiting after I had given all the ino) that I timed out.
Maybe it's my slow slow 32,00 baud modem.

But the big thing is how do you GET the ticket? Do they mail it to you? I don't think so. And if they hold it for you, it's only for 72 hours.

Am I totally confused?

For US residents to pruchase from iberia.com, one must select the "cyberticket" options (they will not mail paper tickets.) I pruchased a ticket on-line in March with no difficulty.

sorry I didn't finish the previous post.

AA Frequent Flyer: I am flying to Venice and back from Barcelona using AA for the overseas and Air France and BA for the intermediate.

But I'm trying to use Iberia to get from Barcelona to Seville. If I can ever get this done, the tickets are less than $40 pp one way.

Being budget travelers, this is right up my alley!

Thanks for the replies.

ah, Leslie, you just posted a reply while I was typing this!

AHA! So a "cyberticket"is what I need? Is this just like an e-ticket in the states? Can you tell me how it works?

Thank you so much.

Carol

...ing up on their computer. (I brought the printout of my confirmation along, but did not need it.)

Should work!

Okay, my intervening post, which went before I was finished, is now no longer here....

First, how did I manage to spell "purchase" incorrectly the same way twice? Ack!

Second, yes - a cyberticket is equivilant to an e-ticket.

Hi Mama,

For the Barcelona/Seville flight you have to use the Spain section of www.iberia.com. I found a price of 135E for August.

Have you tried calling Iberia at
1-800-772-4642

special thanks to leslie and ira!
I got on this morning and registered 1st thing. After an hour (no kidding !!) I got it done. And have already received email confirmation. I didn't realize that there would be a 16 Euro discount for ordering online!
So my RT Barcelona - Seville ended up being 117 euro for 2 people! WW! Now we have more money for tapas and cava! Thanks again.
Carol / Mama!
