Hey!.... What you can see in Greece, you can also seen in Turkey. But, what you can see in Turkey, you can not see in Greece.....
It sounds like you have planned and travelled well and have good experience. Prioritize your interests; if you are interested in sites, historical sites, then you are going to make your choice very easily. You go to Italy, you see Greek,Roman, you go to Greece, again, you will see Greek, Roman. When you cross to Asia Minor, what is Turkey today, you will see historical sites from early Anatolian civilizations, Lidians, Frigians, Hitites, Greeks, Persians, Romans, Byzantines and on the top of all these the Ottomans. Even in Istanbul, you have the magnificient remains of two great civililazitons still standing majestically. That you will not see elsewhere. It seemslike your husband would like to have a cruise ship type travelling through the Aegean Sea. If that is the interest, just take a boat trip through the islands. There are fantastic hotels along the Mediterrenean Coast of Turkey as well as the Aegean Coast. For example, you can stay in a hotel in Kusadasi(Kushadasi - Bird Island) that is near Ephesus, visit the sites in Ephesurs, Museum in Selcuk and ST. John's Basilica and go back to your hotel and have a swim. Ephesus Princes is one of the hotels is just out of this world. I think it is operated by National Turizm, www.national.com.tr or www.princess.com.tr. You can get more info about Ephesus region from www.izmirturizm.gov.tr. or in general 222.tourismturkey.org , www.goturkey.com, www.hotelguide.com.tr anyway websites are full of information. Regardless, where you go, enjoy your trip, dont waste your time in hotel rooms, go out and see........ |
Quote from Mary P "what you need is a romantic place that entails among other things interesting historic places to visit, fabulous beaches, friendly and tolerable people"
Have you even been to Turkey? I have been many places in the world, Europe, Asia, and of course North America. Two places that stand out in my mind as having the most friendly, polite people are Turkey and Canada. And there are loads of interesting historic places in Turkey. I would go to Turkey again in a heartbeat, if I had the chance. And, no, I have not been to Greece, but I do hope to go some day. Whatever place this couple chooses to go, they will be sure to have a great time. |
