I just got a $10 off $50 advertising the grand opening of Chico's here in Tallahassee. Soon the Fresh Market will open. We are movin' on up! Getting my nails done at 9 and then off to Chico's. I hope all I have heard here comes true.

Austin: I'm a "swear by Chico's" person. I've comfortably worn the travelers line for work and travel. Some of the styles are a bit wild for me but the basic black with an occasional pattern thrown in works great. I also bought a silk blouse/jacket that I wore to a holiday party that received lots of compliments and travels great for that rare formal occasion.
Janeg - good luck shopping. The sales really are terrific. They also have frequent promotions like the one you mentioned. Every couple of months I receive some kind of coupon which is a great excuse to see what's new. I guess their ad plan works.

:( Chicos doesn't make clothes in my size.

What are some other good places? - I don't need any "wrinkle free clothes" because you can find them EVERYWHERE now (even JCPenny - Cabin Creek makes some nice stuff) you can even get that in stain resistant ... but I like the idea of the clothes that are made out of "cool-max"

After you have spent $500 at Chico's you get a 5% discount on every purchase from that point on. They also send coupons in every catalog that give you $25 off on any purchase over $100. These coupons are good for the catalog, the stores, or online. They will also send you a birthday coupon every year. So for those of you who think they are expensive, let me tell you, you rarely have to pay full price.

FromAtlanta, Chico's has also expanded their sizing in recent years. A lot of their clothes used to be too big for me, but they have more fitted things now as well as some pants in half-size increments. (Not sure whether their clothes are too big or too small for you!)

And no, I don't own stock and I'm not related to anyone who does!

Trying to find CHico's on web. Googled & Chico gets me CA town & chicos a bunch of spanish sites. Lots of chico stuff on ebay, size 0, 1,2???
Help please.

i_am_kane Aug 14th, 2004 04:30 AM

FromAtlanta, I own a few pieces of Chico clothing. As a reference: I wear a size 8 or small American, and either a 0 or a 1 in Chico's line, depending upon the item. This may help you.

Janeg,
The web site is www.chicos.com. :-)

janeg Aug 14th, 2004 07:22 AM

Thanks for web site. Don't know why it wouldn't work 1st try. Safari to new Chicos in town was a bust. Not open yet!. I wasn't the only one standing in the parking lot looking dumb & disappointed. Grand opening Monday. The place is really bare & many workmen scurrying about. They had better skip church tomorrow!

How about Tilleys?
They're famous for their hats, but they make excellent quality shirts and pants.
I own one pair of Tilleys shorts, trousers, 2 shirts and 2 travel underwear.
They seem indestructible, can be washed easily in a hotel sink in the evening, and they're dry in the morning (except in winter when the pants are damp around the waist).
I bought them in 1997 and they still travel well!
For protection from the elements, I think North Face and Patagonia make excellent jackets albeit expensive. I have a North Face rainproof outer shell thats 10 years old.

I like Eileen Fishers basics. The summer line is light weight, and everything is mix and match. Best of all, most of the waists have elastic (I never thought I'd be old enough to enjoy that). I'm bringing a couple of black jacket and pant sets, tees, sweater sets, and a pair of her khakis. Still looking for something for evening at nice restaurants in Paris.

Scarlett Aug 14th, 2004 11:13 AM

Eileen Fisher makes some really nice silk tops, they might even be washable.

FromAtlanta Aug 14th, 2004 11:20 AM

platzman,

I looked at Tilley's website but didn't see any clothes at all (?)

janeg Aug 14th, 2004 11:28 AM

Eileen Fisher-- a bit pricey for me. Now TS doesn't look so $$. My catalog came today; I shall revisit the 2-way raincoat.
Going to Costa Rica/Panama in March, so I went out and bought 2 wildly tropical White Stag (a blast from the past) blouses for $7 each. Didn't buy the matching pants.

tilley.com
Select your country, then select Women's Tilleys from the list on the l.h. side.
There's tons of women's stuff. Good Luck!

FromAtlanta Aug 14th, 2004 02:53 PM

Oh...I was looking at a different website. Thanks

FromAtlanta Aug 18th, 2004 08:51 AM

HELP!

I can not order that rainjacket at TravelSmith :O I THOUGHT it came in my size, but it does not. :((

I found this:
http://renovere.com/detailspages/swi...uctdetails.asp

Please tell me what you think -Sale ends tomorrow at midnight

BUT it is 100% Guaranteed for 30 days (they even pay to ship it back!)

FromAtlanta Aug 18th, 2004 02:30 PM

Anybody? (Bueller?... :)) )

SeaUrchin Aug 18th, 2004 02:47 PM

It looks fine, I saw the same one at Talbots last year on sale.

Get it and try it on then you can still return it.

Are you going to get the little hat too?

Linda431 Aug 18th, 2004 02:49 PM

I bought the cool max underwear for my husband from both TravelSmith and Magellan's. Got both the briefs (like Jockey shorts) and the V-neck t-shirts to wear under his dress shirts. (Makes the dress shirts wearable 2 or 3 times before sending to the hotel laundry.)

They can be washed out in the sink and will dry overnight if you wring them out in a towel.

He absolutely loves them, especially the t shirts and wears those at home now under his dress shirts.
Much lighter in weight and softer than the regular cotton knit.

Underhill Aug 18th, 2004 02:59 PM

The crinkle pantsuit I ordered from TravelSmith just arrived, and I love it. The top will double nicely as a cocktail jacket with my blak silk dress.
