I want the new format!

The anti-change lobby has done a great job of trying to convince Fodors NOT to upgrade. However, the upgrade was wonderful (when it worked). The added features, the ability to change from one forum to the other, etc., made it superior. Please bring it back (when it is bug-free).

No way! The second, ill-fated attempt to "improve" the format was a smashing sucess--with the emphasis on smashing. It didn't work, it was hard to use.

Let's hope the hard-working Fodors folks learn a lesson and continue their valuable service in this (old) format.

I look forward to the return of the "new" format. And new "through-put" power to handle its far superior performance.
Granted, the upgrade did not work like it was intended. But, assuming it was working properly, I thought the functions were helpful. Of course, the format must work, but assuming it can be fixed, I do not understand why people are against it.

I liked many features of the new format, particularly the ability to transfer from one section of Travel Talk to another. I also liked the embedded links. Many responders embed links in their postings and having them clickable is a big help.
Based on the error messages I saw, it looked to me like the new system was unable to process all of the user requests quickly enough to prevent time outs and data deadlocks. I know that this current system is sluggish at times, so that fact alone makes me suspect that Fodors does not have enough computer resources to carry the load created by the new system. Also, I got a few Oracle error messages. If Fodors is using Oracle, they need considerable resources to run the whole system.
Travel Talk is obviously not the only service that Fodors provides via the Internet, so it has to compete for time quanta in order to function.
Let's all hope that Fodors staff can bring something back that is an improvement over the current mode of operation.

The main problem with the new format was the huge font and the small display area. Too many bells and whistles and not enough content/text.

Other problems, besides the kluges and glitches and bugs, were limitations on what you could "search" on.

I don't mind the new format IF IF IF it preserves this (present as of 4/17) size text, windows, display area, etc.

I vote for the new format, without any "if's"!

Me too! Me too! Me too!

I vote for the new format:

- well "stress-tested" before roll-out to ensure it does not grind to a halt during peak load
- published training package before-hand so everyone can become familiar with the features
- detailed help files in case users run into trouble
- incorporating some of the requests (e.g. type styles) from those that prefer the old format

regards
