And I bought a pink Prada because SeaUrchin did and I carry it every summer, regardless of the "in" color that year!!

Pink will be great, and I agree about the Le SportSac bags--except that mine tend to slide off my shoulder. I bought a red one so that I wouldn't put down my black bag and just not see it when I got up to walk away.

I have a few LeSportSacs in different colors and sizes and have carried them in Paris. Love them for the weight and all the compartments. Saw several in Italy last year and also saw lots of Kipling bags.
Have a great time in Paris and come back to the board.

milogirl, i'm not sure if you're interested since you say this might be your only post, BUT since you're going to Paris you can come back, continue to read the board, and help answer questions that you will now know the answers to from your trip. you probably have some input for Dublin questions too.

That sounds great milogirl; there's nothing as boring as wearing a black bag with a black outfit. A bright green or orange bag would do as well.
And for a new purse; look for Delvaux. They have some gorgeous colours too. Or Jamin Puech for an embroidered bag. Or the new Louis Vuitton store on Champs Elysees. I'm getting carried away here, thinking about handbags. Have a great time in Paris.

Speaking of striking colors...
I wear a bright neon green smaller backpack on many of my trips. I keep my maps, guide books and water in it. And my fellow travellers can always find me in a crowd...which is really my sole purpose of wearing such a "loud" colored item.
Works every time.

Hmm, I never noticed any edicts here that one had to carry a black purse, in Paris or anywhere else in Europe.
My winter purse is a nice red color, from the German maker GoldPfeil, you can see it on their web site, www.goldpfeil.de, it's the red one in their Saffiano line. They have a shop in Paris, 23 Blvd des Capucines.
(Goldpfeil isn't available in the U.S., and it hasn't attracted attention from the knockoff artists.)

I thought you were going to update TS Eliot, you know, the poet who wrote "The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock". Only instead of, "I shall wear the bottoms of my trousers rolled" it will be "I shall carry a bright pink purse in Paris...."

I am also going to Paris soon and I have been looking for a great pair of smart black shoes that will be comfortable to wear & stylish at the same time.
A few days ago I found a fantastic pair. Perfect fit, right height to wear with my black trousers, very comfy. Only one problem - they were pink! And I mean PINK!
Could I get away with wearing these shoes in Paris? Black coat, black trousers & pink shoes? I didn't think so.
Having read your post I'm now sure I can do it. So, it's back to the shoe shop and hopefully they will have a matching purse!

A pink purse in Paris??? Practically perfect. Your email reminded me that I carried a LeSportSac (unfortunately grey...all I could find) on my very first trip to Europe (and that was before dirt was invented.) I loved it and wore it to death. Thanks to your posting, I think I shall buy another.
