I-phone, how to disable roaming

I will have my iphone4 in London and just want to be able to text internationally and use the wifi in hotel. No phone calls. I know I can buy an int'l text plan. How do I set the phone so that no incoming phone calls are charged roaming fees.

Do you know if I can send photos as a part of texting or is that somehow associated with data?

Thanks for any help. And yes, I am a big dummy when it comes to gadgets.

Don't answer incoming calls and don't retrieve phone messages. You should disable data roaming by Setting > General > Mobile Data > Data Roaming > Off.

You can send photos as part of an email. You can make and receive international calls using something like Skype or AT&T international calling app at extremely low cost.

If you are not going to use all of the iPhones features, why have one?

Thank you. I use the iPhone when traveling as a camera/iPad/texting device. Will retrieve email when I am in the hotel using wifi. . Do not want to incur any roaming charges!
