I need to get to capri, but

I read somewhere that you have to buy ferry tickets in advance but I called the Caremar ferry and no one spoke english. I went to the viagginrete site to purchase a ticket online and it wont translate. Last option I call Capri visitor info and she could barely speak english, no progress there either.

Now, on March 31st I will have a car and I will need to get to a port so that I can visit Capri but everyone is saying to avoid driving in Naples at all cost. So, I figured that I can just take a ferry from Sorrento instead. Now people are saying that the Sorrento area is crazy during easter and that police were turning people away from certain towns around easter.

My head might explode if I try any harder to figure this thing out alone. I need your help.

Are you thinking to take your car to Capri ? Don't. As a foot passenger, you don't need to book ahead. Where will you actually be coming from ?

The poster above has good advice. Park the car at a hotel or lot, esp at Easter time!! Then simply buy your ticket down at the marina in Sorrento, which by the way, is a much easier port to deal with than Naples! I think it may even be possible to buy your tix a day ahead for next day departure.

I don't believe you are allowed to take a car to Capri. Buy your ferry tickets when you get to Sorrento or Naples. For many people the Easter holiday will be over and they will be back at work on Tuesday March 29.

I would be allowed to take the car over because it is a rental, I'm not from Italy and it is before mid-April. But I'm not going to. I would if I was staying longer than 2 days because it would be cheaper.
Thank guys! Sorrento it is.

Where did you locate the car information for Capri? The info I have says cars are only allowed by nonresidents between November and late March. Maybe my info is out of date.

I was speaking on blurred memory but I just looked it up. Your info is right. It's realy a rough estimate of whatever the low season is. Normally between Nov. & late March.
