I'm off today to London and then Chipping Campden

Thanks to all for the advice and tips.... I'm still working on packing light. Maybe next time :)

Using points to fly business class on Air Canada (they have the new "pod" seating) and staying at Grosvenor House via Priceline. I have a couple of days that are still not sorted - I will have a car so might go to Ludlow or some spots in Shropshire. Then to Chipping Campden where I have a cottage rented.

I might post while I'm there, possibly to update but possibly to get advice in case I run into trouble or have questions about something or other.

Ta-ra all!

Have you been to CC before? We were there in 2004 and absolutely loved it. It was just an overnight after we landed at Gatwick. We were on our way to the Lake District.

I would love to go back.

I flew in an AC "pod" to London on my xmas trip- they are quite cozy and the flat bed is nice. It's fun playing with the all the seat-control buttons!

Have a great trip, taggie. I'll be looking forward to your reports!

Thanks Apres_Londee - I hope this fog doesn't delay things... last time I flew business to the UK the food provider was on strike so we got cold bunwiches to eat. I hope this round is slightly better. I'm sure I will feel suitably smug taking my seat up front :). (And I'm sure I'll pay dearly for that next trip by being squished in with a large flatulent person).

bettyk - I totally agree - it's gorgeous in Chipping Campden (well in all the Cotswolds IMO)... I've been there on 3 previous occasions but just for the day each time. We stayed in Broadway for 4 days once and in Stow on the Wold for a couple of nights. Have stayed in the Lake District too on several previous trips - love that area as well!

Have a good trip! Makes me want to book a ticket to London... maybe when the weather gets better.

I just weighed my repacked suitcase and it comes in at 42 pounds. OMG - and this was a light pack for me. I think I have a problem.

42 pounds? are you serious???

I have been traveling with a 19" rollaboard and it weighs no more than 20 pounds when full. I can't carry anything heavier than 25 lbs, or I won't be able to lift it overhead and carry it up 2 flights of stairs without struggling.

Oh, taggie. You sound just like me. When you get back we should do packing rehab together.

taggie Jan 21st, 2009 04:34 PM

Deal! If i have another caesar i might need another kind of rehab too...

I bet Amy Winehouse is a really, really light packer. She just stuffs an extra wife beater in her bra and she's good to go.

well she doesn't seem to need to pack any soap with her...
or a razor
