I just want to get to Capri

I read somewhere that you have to buy ferry tickets in advance but I called the Caremar ferry and no one spoke english. I went to the viagginrete site to purchase a ticket online and it wont translate. Last option I call Capri visitor info and she could barely speak english, no progress there either.

Now, on March 31st I will have a car and I will need to get to a port so that I can visit Capri but everyone is saying to avoid driving in Naples at all cost. So, I figured that I can just take a ferry from Sorrento instead. Now people are saying that the Sorrento area is crazy during easter and that police were turning people away from certain towns around easter.

My head might explode if I try any harder to figure this thing out alone. I need your help.

I don't know about Easter, but when I was there last June, just walked up to ferry and bought ticket no problem, in Sorrento that is.

You just buy a ticket at the port before boarding. There are several operators, so look to see which sailings are imminent. It's better to buy single tickets because then you're not committed to returning with the same operator. Neither Napoli nor Sorrento will be very convenient with a car.

Don't panic! I spent Easter there about 2 years ago, here's what I think...

Get the ferry from Sorrento. Traffic into Sorrento will be bad, but you'll get in eventually! Parking will be tricky, but not impossible. Buy the ferry ticket when you get there - absolutedly no need to book, even at Easter. By the way, please stay at least one night on Capri - as a day trip it's crowded and disappointing, as an overnight stay it's peaceful and magical.

From whence will you be starting?

We will be leaving Florence early that morning. I hope to see either Pompeii or some of the Amalfi coast before catching the latest ferry in Sorrento at 7 p.m. So as long as they let me into the city and the ferry schedule doesn't change then I will have nothing else to worry about.

I'll be staying 2 nights. I wouldn't want to miss the sunset from Capri.

There is a car garage. I hope that it's not full. Oh nooo! Just joking.
Ok I feel alot better now. Thanks guys.
